Technology Transfer Activities

Many of the results obtained from the work developed through the research projects and contracts, as well as from the Doctoral and Master Thesis advised, have been transfer to Spanish or international companies and institutions in several forms: software packages for the design of microwave devices and antennas, prototypes of microwave devices, communications systems analysis, and so on. Beside this direct technology transfer two patents are under exploitation and seven software packages have been developed which are being used by multinational companies and other customers. Also a small business for the commercialization of one of those software packages has been founded. These activities are described in a more detailed form next.

B. Analysis and Design Software packages

 

1.        ChebAsCW

Computer Aided Design (CAD) program for the synthesis of advanced microwave filters, with asymmetric amplitude response and self equalized group delay and a variety of possible topologies.

Contracts in which frame it has been developed: nn. 6, 8, 9 (Phases A, B), 14, 18, 19, 22, 26 and 28.

2.        CavMil

CAD package for the design of waveguide based filters (E plane, inductive irises, resonant irises, and so on) and diplexers (Y, T, U, both E and H plane topologies).

3.        Optimizer based in rational models.

Optimizer based in the extraction of a rational model of the device that is to be optimized by means of the Cauchy Method. It is used in the software packages nn. 2 and 4.

4.        Compact Multiplexers Synthesis Software Package.

CAD tool for the synthesis of multiplexers based on an extension of the coupling matrix concept.

5.        TFDSIE (Time and Frequency Domain EM Solver Using Integral Equation).

This software package performs time and frequency analysis of electromagnetic structures using Integral Equation methods and a hybrid approach. The theory and the user manual are described in book no. 6. The code can be downloaded for free from the link provided in the book.

6.        HOBBIES (Higher Order Basis Based Integral Equation Solver)

High-performance electromagnetic simulator for the analysis and design of electromagnetic structures, and antennas which may be used in an out-of-core or in core parallel configuration or with an in-core one, depending on the complexity and number of unknowns of the problem. The theory and the user manual are described in book no. 7. There are two versions of the code: the academic one which is sold with the book, and the professional one available through OHRN Enterprises Inc., or HOBBIES Technology Company, Limited.
